Old Jail Museum

Clanwilliam - Old Jail Museum

Built in 1808 and housed in the old jail, this museum documents the history of the area, including all the inhabitants from the San up until the present. There are features on the 1820 settlers and the Boer War. Agriculture is also documented, especially the production of rooibos tea and velskoene. In the "Ou Tronk", the old prison at the end of the Main Road, this fascinating Clanwilliam Museum with old Voortrekker wagons and many other artefacts from the time of the pioneers.
